Various models of compulsory basic insurance are available. The basic model gives you free choice of doctor and pharmacy. The premium is based on the amount of the deductible, i.e. the excess; there are no discounts in this model. If you would like to reduce your premium, you can opt for one of the alternative insurance models. If you choose the family doctor model, you undertake to consult your family doctor or the family doctor of a group practice (HMO) first in the event of illness. He or she will clarify the further course of treatment and refer you to specialists if necessary. There is a free choice of pharmacy. With the Assura PharMed model, you should consult your doctor first if you have any medical problems. You must also obtain your medication from a pharmacy approved by your health insurance company. In Geneva and Vaud, you can also choose from health network models. In this case, you first consult a doctor from the Delta network and obtain your medication from a recognized pharmacy. Policyholders in Basel-Stadt and Basel-Land can also opt for a Telmed model. Under the AssurCall telemedicine model, you first call the independent telemedicine center Medgate if you have any medical questions. If necessary, the center will refer you to a doctor or hospital.
