Agrisano Health Insurance

Agrisano Krankenkasse AG is one of the five companies of the Agrisano Foundation. The Swiss Farmers' Union was founded in 1992 to develop special insurance solutions for Swiss farming families and their employees. In the area of health insurance, these include basic insurance, various supplementary insurance products including hospital insurance, daily allowance insurance and dental insurance, as well as accident insurance. More than 143,000 insured persons have opted for Agrisano's basic cover and over 76,000 insured persons have opted for the additional AGRI special model. In 2017, premium income from mandatory health insurance reached CHF 400 million.

The Agrisano basic insurance

Agrisano Health Insurance offers self-developed and needs-based insurance solutions for the rural population. There are three models in the area of basic insurance:

• The basic model corresponds to the mandatory health care insurance that all Swiss citizens must take out. The policyholder is free to choose his doctor, and the premium amount is based on the deductible rate and the retention.
• AGRI-eco is the family doctor model. In the event of illness, insured persons first contact their family doctor or group practice (HMO). If necessary, they are referred to a specialist.
• AGRI-contact is a Telmed model. If the insured person is ill, first contact the medical consultation. A medical professional refers the caller to a doctor or hospital if further treatment is needed. Telemedicine models are not available in all states.

Agrisano supplementary insurances

The benefits of statutory health insurance are regulated by law and are the same for all health insurance companies. If you need comprehensive coverage, you can choose from several supplementary coverages. Supplementary offers complement the basic cover, for example dental or hospital cover. Agrisano health insurance offers supplementary insurance specifically for farmers. AGRI-spécial includes, among other things, accommodation in general hospital facilities throughout Switzerland, transport and rescue payments as well as allowances for emergency and alternative medicine abroad, glasses and other medical assistance.

• AGRI-naturel takes over the services of natural remedies.
• AGRI-Dental is a supplementary dental insurance that covers 50 % of dental treatment costs.
• Hospital Flex is a supplementary hospital insurance with flexible accommodation solutions in traditional, semi-private or private hospital facilities.
• Hospital insurance is another type of supplemental hospital insurance that covers the cost of staying in a semi-private or private hospital complex.
• AGRI's income is daily allowance and coverage against the financial consequences of loss of work due to illness, childbirth or accident. In addition, policyholders can take out legal expenses insurance, travel insurance, agricultural accident insurance, disability and death insurance.
